Int’l Business Development Director–Middle East and Africa

Dr Grigorios Koutsogiannis  is currently member of the Int’l Business Development team of Lockheed Martin (LM) Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), covering the Middle East & Africa. He is responsible for a number of countries in the region, working across a number of difference domains such as C4ISR, Helicopters, Radar, Unmanned Systems, Flight Training and Cyber Solutions. He moved to the Middle East as the Business Development Lead for the Region for the Information System and Global Solutions (IS&GS) business area in 2014.

Prior to this position, he was the Business Development Manager for NATO and Continental Europe. He successfully led LM’s teams with NATO for a number of NATO pursuits as well as commercial Cyber contracts. Furthermore, he worked closely with EU Agencies and key European countries on border surveillance and Airborne ISR projects.

He joined Lockheed Martin, beginning of 2008 as a research engineer. His duties included management of R&D projects focusing on Network Enabled Capabilities. In addition to that, he worked as a technical lead on Tactical Data Link and GIS projects for the UK MOD.  He has acquired an extensive technical experience in the areas of signal processing, radar and communication systems. In the past, he had worked in the Research and Development lab of Mitsubishi Electric, on advanced signal processing for active and passive radars. 

Dr Grigorios Koutsogiannis graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2000 with a BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. In 2003, he finished his PhD in Signal Processing and Telecommunications, funded by the UK Ministry of Defence. He then joined the Hellenic Army for his military service where he served in the 5th Commando Battalion and the Special Forces Training Centre. 

He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Member of IET and has served in the technical committee of the International Data Link Society between 2009 and 2011. He has authored a number of papers and holds a patent on passive radars with the EPO and WPO. He is a graduate of the Lockheed Martin Corporate Business Development Leadership Academy of 2012, recipient of the IS&GS Celebration of Excellence 2014 team award and Lockheed Martin 2014 NOVA team award.  He was born and raised in Perama, Piraeus. In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, windsurfing and he holds a Private Pilot License. He speaks Greek, English, French and is a beginner in Arabic.
